The idea for TimeStack was one that I had a while ago. Between school and work I had plenty of daily tasks to juggle, but never quite found a better method of organizing everything than pen and paper. I'd tried various apps, iOS Reminders and Calendar but nothing ever quite did a better job that a trusty $3 Walmart planner. The problem was that I could never find all the features I wanted in one app, so I'd get frustrated and never use them again. Though the planner ended up being my go-to method of organization, even it has it's drawbacks. I'd sometimes forget to check it, or even forget to put it in my backpack when I left for school.
Nothing was exactly what I needed, so I entertained the idea of writing my own app, but was so busy with school and work that I never sat down and tried to do it. This semester, I decided to take an iOS class as an elective and lo and behold there's an open ended project assignment. I decided to start my time management app for that, and hopefully get a good grade along the way. This was my rough sketch at how I wanted the UI to look.
