Project Description:
Write a mobile app that uses a live video stream to look for presence/absence of a saturated white spot that indicates if a transmitter light is on or off (1 or 0).

The transmitter could be a flashlight though it is anticipated that decoding would be difficult due to an inconsistent timing pattern as well as have very low bandwidth due to the length of time required to manually turn a flashlight on or off. Instead, the project involves a second mobile app utilized on a second mobile phone that operates as a transmitter by turning on and off the flash bulb in a pattern that encodes bits. Students will learn mobile development including creating a GUI and operating a mobile camera, as well as very rudimentary image processing.
